Members of
the Advisory Board serve in a volunteer capacity to provide
guidance to the Management Team in their
individual fields of expertise.
Daniel Basov
Daniel Basov is
a partner with the law firm of Solton Rosen & Balakhovsky LLP (formerly, of Howrey, of
Kenyon & Kenyon and of Chadbourne & Parke, LLP). His focus is on patent prosecution,
litigation, negotiating and drafting intellectual property license
agreements, advising on the IP aspects of corporate transactions
and e-commerce, preparing patent infringement/validity opinions
and rendering trademark and copyright advice.
Mr. Basov's
practice includes rendering legal advice and representing
technology clients in mergers and acquisitions, technology
transfers, licensing, outsourcing and other types of transactions
involving various IP and e-commerce issues. He represented
Conexent Systems Inc. in a 2.8 billion dollar merger with another
broadband and wireless solution provider, Globespan/Virata Inc.,
and rendered IP-related and contract advice for Rockwell Collins,
Inc. in a 128 million dollar acquisition of NLX, LLC. Mr. Basov
also provided legal advice to
Svenska
Cellulosa Aktiebolaget SCA.
and its subsidiaries in connection with the purchase of the "away
from home" tissue business of Georgia-Pacific Corporation, with a
market value of approximately $700 million, and represented
Federated Department Stores and other on various matters involving
assertions of patent infringement of e-commerce patents, trademark
disputes and license negotiations.
Mr. Basov has
also worked on major patent and trademark litigations in recent
years, representing companies such as Matsushita, Minebea Co. and
Nippon Miniature Bearing Corp. in various lawsuits involving
disk-drive motor patents and circuitry for LCD monitors,
represented Conductus Inc. in a patent infringement lawsuit
involving cryogenically cooled receiver front ends for cellular
base stations, advised PhoneFree.com on the issues of infringement
in the area of Internet telephony technology and advised Symbol
Technologies, Inc. on various issues of patent and trademark
infringement involving laser bar code scanning technology.
Mr.
Basov is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law
Association and the New York State Bar Association. He received
his law degree from the Fordham School of Law and bachelor
degrees in computer science and mathematics from the New York
University.
Jairo H. Paredes
Jairo Paredes manages systems operations at IAC
Media & Search/Mindspark (Ask.com, eVite, Bloglines, iWon.com. MyWay etc.).
Previously he was Senior
Technology Specialist and Analyst at PRNewswire, which provides
electronic distribution, targeting, measurement, translation and
broadcast services on behalf of some 40,000 corporate, government,
association, labor, non-profit, and other customers worldwide who
seek to reach a variety of critical audience including the news
media, the investment community, government decision-makers, and
the general public with their up-to-the-minute, full-text news
developments . While there, Mr. Paredes oversaw Operation Desk
Activity, and was the Team Leader for
developing the PRNewswire Technical Operations Website. His
responsibilities included overseeing development of a new
hierarchal system, updating of all relevant content and automation
processes, and compiling and presenting the Monthly Technology
Report, which was read and utilized by the PRNewswire's Executive
Board as a gauge of business continuity.
Mr. Paredes received his bachelor degree
from Rutgers University. He has longtime served on the
Executive Board of a national fraternity.
Alexander Korogodsky
For over a decade Mr. Korogodsky has been in
leadership positions with major Fortune 500 companies. His focus
on enabling eBusiness innovation with strategic information
technology solutions is well balanced with managing the
operational aspects of a business.
Currently Mr. Korogodsky serves as the Chief
Operating Officer (COO), member of the Executive Committee and
member of the Board of Directors for a $270M Eastern-European
insurance company. He oversees Finance, Actuarial, Risk
Management, Operations, Technology, Administration and Legal
functions for the company. In his role he leads a team of 1500
people through a multi-year Operational, Financial and Technology
transformation efforts while pursuing very aggressive growth
plans.
Prior to that, Mr. Korogodsky headed up the
Business Intelligence and the High-Performance Computing Centers
for the Financial Services Office of Ernst & Young, LLP, a global
professional services firm. Before joining Ernst & Young,
Mr. Korogodsky held a number of key leadership and management
positions -- among them, Director of eBusiness at Prudential
Financial, where he launched company's startup benefit business,
and held responsibility for the eBusiness technology platform.
A frequent speaker at the industry events
(Society of Actuaries, Risk Management Institute, Business
Intelligence Forum), Mr. Korogodsky publishes in such respected
publications as Best's Review, Insurance and Technology
Magazine, The Contingencies, Windows in Financial
Services, and others. Mr. Korogodsky offers an effective
fusion of a practitioner's experience in the areas of operations
and technology with academic approaches to these disciplines as he
is also a part of the MBA Program Faculty at the Fairleigh
Dickinson University.
